Menstrual Health (NIVUSHE Project)
NIVUSHE is JIVITA Foundation’s menstrual health initiative supporting adolescent girls and young people—especially in rural settings—by improving access to hygienic sanitary pads and menstrual health education.
Lack of a hygienic environment and limited access to hygienic sanitary pads is a major challenge for adolescent girls and young people in Tanzania, particularly in rural areas. JIVITA’s findings show that 93% of beneficiaries in Tanga, Manyara, and Arusha regions are unable to access hygienic sanitary pads.
This limited access has serious effects on students, including inconsistent attendance, reduced concentration in class, and widening inequality between girls and their male peers.

Through the NIVUSHE Project, JIVITA responds by providing menstrual health support and education to keep girls learning with dignity and confidence.
